What’s Happening Now Though as volunteers we are currently unable to enter the prison, we as a Kairos community are pleased to announce we have been conducting weekly Virtual Prayer and Share groupings. If you are interested in participating in this, either contact your yard leader or Jeff Salamat at jeffsalamat@gmail.com.     Upcoming Kairos Events Note: Due to COVID-19, all Kairos events at RJD have been suspended. We will let you know once this changes. 4 Day Weekend: We are hoping to have our next Kairos Retreat sometime in October. Dates will be released ASAP. KPMI Annual Conference: Kairos International will be holding a Virtual Conference on Friday, July 24th and Saturday, July 25th. More information can be found HERE. All Kairos of San Diego events can be viewed on our website HERE.     Increased Prayer: Due to the strong participation with our virtual Prayer & Share groups, we as a community are engaging more in prayer. Letters of Encouragement: The Chaplain has allowed us to write general letters of encouragement to the Kairos communities on each of the yards. What a wonderful way to inspire and maintain relationship! Video Project: We have been given permission by RJD and KPMI to produce a video on an “Introduction to Kairos Prayer & Share Groups,” which would be shown on institutional television at RJD, with the potential to be shown at institutions throughout our entire nation. Please keep this project in prayer.     While we diligently remain in prayer for all of our 2020 Prayer Focus Points, each month we will select one that we want to be intentional as a community to pray for.

In a time where there is so much hurt, anger, suffering, and uncertainty, may we be a people who not only pray for others, but who pray to Grow in our Desire to Pray for Others e.g. Kairos Leaders, Church Leaders, Leaders of Nations, The Body of Christ, The Unsaved, RJD Administration, Custody Officers, The Sick, The Hurting, The Marginalized, Your Enemies, Your Family, etc.     Spiritual Reflection     In the Gospel of John, Jesus commands us to follow Him first. As He prepares to depart earth, Jesus commanded us to Abide in Him! As He Abides in us! He tells us do not be anxious and do not worry. He said if we ABIDE in Him, and He in us, then we will bear much fruit (John 15:5). In this day of civil unrest and uncertainty, what does it look like to abide in Jesus? How do you know you are truly abiding in him? Do you express and reflect His non-anxious presence to those around you? Do you feel His presence within you? Are you at peace? Do you have joy in your being? Do you know Him by abiding in His Word? What would your day look like if you took micro-breaks to reconnect and Abide in Jesus?     Orientation/Clearances Since the institution is not currently processing volunteer clearances, there are no orientations scheduled at this time. However, attached to this email are several helpful documents to help you: Check when you clearance expires. Follow instructions to put your clearance packet together.     Kairos International Update Every month Kairos International sends out “E-News.” Here is a brief recap of the most recent issue: PRAYER: KMPI is encouraging everyone to unite daily in prayer at 8 am, noon, and 8 pm.
